Hello!

Welcome to the Burgwin-Wright House’s first ever blog!  My name is Alex and I am the new intern.  Over the next few months, I will be your virtual guide to what is one of Wilmington’s oldest historical homes.

First, a bit about myself: I am a senior, graduating this coming May from UNCW.  I am an English Major with a concentration in Literary Studies and certification in Professional Writing.  When I first came to Wilmington as a young freshman, I was immediately taken by the presence of history in Wilmington. The old homes, the remains of cobblestone streets, the faded brick façade of hundred-year-old buildings, all of which has captured my attention and imagination. The horse-drawn carriage that meanders through downtown only further accentuates the historic aspects of this port city.

Now, I have the opportunity to participate, instead of passively gazing at the ancient splendor.  As an intern at the Burgwin-Wright House, I will be acquainting myself with the history of the home and the thought-provoking artifacts that rest within its centuries old walls.  I am excited to get started and dig through the history of the Burgwin-Wright House!

Let’s see what we find, shall we?

X

Alex
